In clinical environments with high epidemiological risk, such as operating theatres, intensive care units, laboratories and medical or dental practices, conventional disinfection must be complemented by automated protocols. Airborne disinfection of room surfaces by fogging ensures an even distribution of biocidal particles as a dry mist, reaching even hard-to-access areas.

Biocidal activity spectrum and European standards

Any formula used for airborne disinfection of room surfaces must hold the mandatory test EN 17272. This is the official method that guarantees a biocide released through automated processes keeps its antimicrobial efficacy on the room's surfaces, acting evenly in hard-to-reach areas without requiring mechanical wiping.

Depending on the targeted level of disinfection, formulas may show bactericidal, yeasticidal, fungicidal, virucidal, mycobactericidal or sporicidal activity.

Fogging disinfection automatically turns the Klintensiv disinfectant solution into extremely fine particles, creating a dry mist that disperses evenly over the surfaces of a room, including areas that are hard to reach by conventional wiping or spraying. Products such as Ambiocide and Desogen aero are used undiluted, at a dose of 10 ml/m³. Staff must leave the room for the whole cycle and the full contact time, and after treatment the room is ventilated for 15–30 minutes before re-entry. No product requires rinsing after application.

Fogging disinfection with Klintensiv products is indicated for spaces with high microbiological risk, such as hospitals, clinics, laboratories, polyclinics, medical practices, operating theatres, ambulances and emergency departments. The method is also suitable for schools, hotels, corporate offices, industrial halls or high-traffic public spaces. Klintensiv disinfectants are compatible with a wide range of materials (coated/uncoated metals, plastic, rubber, silicone, Teflon, wood, ceramics, glass, floors).

Klintensiv fogging products are formulated with biodegradable ingredients: Ambiocide (based on quaternary ammonium compounds) contains over 98% biodegradable ingredients, and Desogen aero (based on hydrogen peroxide and quaternary ammonium compounds) over 99%. For safe use, they are applied with no people or animals present; respecting the contact time and ventilating afterwards are mandatory.
