ROMANIAN AEROCLUB

In 1920, the Royal Aeroclub of Romania (ARR) was founded on the initiative of Prince George Valentin Bibescu, becoming a legal entity on April 13, 1923. G.V. Bibescu was elected executive vice president, and aviation commander Andrei Popovici was elected secretary general. The ARR affiliated with the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI), with its candidacy being voted on unanimously at the FAI Conference held in Gothenburg from August 8-12, 1923. In 1936, the ARR transformed into the Royal Aeronautical Federation of Romania (FARR), which, on September 10, 1940, became the Romanian Aeronautical Federation (FAR), which remained active until January 28, 1941. In October 1942, its responsibilities were taken over by the Romanian Aeronautical Youth until February 1945, when aeronautical organizations and sports aeroclubs were dissolved.
