National Agency Against Trafficking in Persons

The National Agency Against Trafficking in Persons acts as the national rapporteur, collecting data for this purpose from governmental and non-governmental actors carrying out activities in the field of combating human trafficking.

Among the main responsibilities of ANITP, the following can be mentioned:

• drafts the National Strategy against Human Trafficking based on proposals from institutions with responsibilities in this field.
• prepares the annual report on the evolution of human trafficking, with the participation of other structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and based on data provided by public institutions with responsibilities in this field and non-governmental organizations;
• develops human trafficking prevention campaigns and programs to facilitate assistance for victims of human trafficking, and collaborates with public and private institutions and non-governmental organizations to implement joint campaigns and programs;
• facilitates the participation of human trafficking victims in criminal prosecution and trial activities in cooperation with institutions with responsibilities in this field;
• conducts studies and research on the diagnosis and evolution of the human trafficking phenomenon.
