In 1968, the County Center for the Preservation and Promotion of Traditional Culture was established through the transformation of the Regional House of Folk Creation, which had been operating since 1956. In 2009, through the merger of three departments: the Center for the Preservation and Promotion of Traditional Culture, the "Ciprian Porumbescu" Artistic Ensemble, and the "Ion Irimescu" School of Arts, the "Bucovina" Cultural Center was established, a public cultural institution with legal personality, subordinate to the Suceava County Council. The Center for the Preservation and Promotion of Traditional Culture, a department of the "Bucovina" Cultural Center, develops and implements diverse cultural programs and projects, provides methodological assistance and specialized consulting to cultural establishments in the county and the artistic groups operating within them, capitalizes on and promotes regional artistic creation, carries out research and development activities regarding the intangible cultural heritage specific to the area (traditions, customs, techniques related to traditional crafts, etc.), and organizes events covering a wide range of artistic genres to ensure access to cultural services in both urban and rural areas. The Center for the Preservation and Promotion of Traditional Culture has as its purpose the research, preservation, promotion, and capitalization of segments of traditional culture, creative and performing arts, and amateur artists.
