Disinfectants, medical consumables and cleaning products for dental practices

Dental practices require disinfection protocols differentiated by risk category — from reprocessing critical instruments to disinfecting contact surfaces — because of the risk of contamination through aerosols and direct contact with mucous membranes. Klintensiv covers every stage of the dental protocol: disinfectants for surfaces and instruments such as Klintensiv Aminoquat, Concentrated enzymatic disinfectant detergent, Dezicon, Klinosept etc. — fogging equipment, dispensers, medical waste consumables and cleaning products for clinical areas. Also available in predefined configurations: Dental Care, Essential, Necessary and Instrument Care packages.

The disinfection protocol for the dental chair and unit depends directly on whether single-use physical barriers are used. For surfaces protected by medical paper or single-use film, staff remove the barrier after each patient and quickly decontaminate the area. For unprotected components directly exposed to aerosols, a fast intermediate-level disinfectant such as Klintensiv Alchosafe is sprayed and wiped on and left to act for 3 minutes without rinsing.

Manual reprocessing of dental instruments before sterilisation must follow strict work phases, using specific biocidal products as examples of good practice. Phase 1 is initial cleaning with a concentrated tri-enzymatic detergent such as Klinozyme™ to remove all organic matter. Phase 2 is intermediate-level disinfection by full immersion in a tank with a disinfectant such as Deziamino for 60 minutes. Phase 3 is a further intermediate- and high-level disinfection with a product such as Dezicon for 60 minutes, ensuring the instruments are fully prepared.

The dental practice's suction systems are disinfected daily, in the middle of the working day and after treatments end, to prevent biofilm formation and organic deposits. As an example of good practice, a concentrated solution such as Klintensiv Aminoquat at 1% dilution is used, drawn directly through the dental unit's cannulas. This type of specialised disinfectant is formulated not to foam, protecting the vacuum pump, and needs a contact time of 60 minutes inside the lines to ensure complete decontamination.
